Baby Randy is the firstborn son of Matt and Katie Wessel and the older brother of Eliana and Callen. He came into this world on April 17, 2014, and conquered 5 amazing hours of life before having to say goodbye. A blood clot at 17 weeks gestation ruptured his amniotic sac and deprived his lungs of the fluid they needed to develop. Still, he held on, stayed put and continued to grow and survive. He made it all the way to 26 weeks before making his grand entrance, but ultimately his underdeveloped lungs couldn't do the job they were meant to do. His life journey, though short, continues to serve as an inspiration for all men and women whose unborn children face risk, and for those very babies for whom the odds are stacked against.

Help us honor Randy and his family with a gift to the Randol Thomas Wessel Memorial Fund, benefiting the March of Dimes and other organizations committed to ending complications due to premature birth.
